Frequently Asked Questions
Is your honey raw?
o Yes, our honey is 100% pure honey.

Is your honey pasteurized?
o No, our honey is not pasteurized. It is filtered.

Do you eat the honeycomb?
o Beeswax is edible and can be chewed like a gum and eaten as white yellowish roughage. Some people use it on hot buttered toast and let it soak in, or on toast spread with crunchy peanut butter. Others put it into their hot tea to melt, or dip it into melted milk chocolate.

Does honey expire?
o Honey does not “expire”. However, over extended periods of time it does crystalize. If that happens it can be warmed up to become liquid again. We recommend heating it by placing the jar in a bain-marie (hot water bath).

Where does Don Victor Honey come from?
o Don Victor honey is a multi-flower honey collected and bottled in the south of Spain.

Do you take out the pollen?
o No, we do not remove pollen from our honey.

Is the lid sealed?
o Yes. Our jars are sealed by a seal of guarantee so that they arrive in perfect condition and prevent air from entering.

How do I replace sugar with honey?
o When replacing granulated sugar with honey in recipes, start by substituting up to half of the sugar requested in the recipe. For baked goods, be sure to reduce the oven temperature by 25°F to prevent it from getting too dark. Reduce any liquid required by 1/4 cup for each cup of honey used and add 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda for each cup of honey used. Due to its high fructose content, honey has a higher sweetening power than sugar. This means that you can use less honey than sugar to achieve the desired sweetness.

What is the nutritional information of honey?
o Honey is composed mainly of carbohydrates and water, and also contains small amounts of a wide range of vitamins and minerals, including niacin, riboflavin, pantothenic acid, calcium, copper, iron, magnesium, manganese, phosphorus, potassium and zinc.
